Lungkeiphawtial

Eastern part of Farkawn Village, Champhai District

Lungkeiphawtial, situated in the eastern part of Farkawn Village in Champhai District, is an important rock art site characterised by a large flat rock surface containing numerous carved figures and artistic representations created by the ancient inhabitants of the region.

The carvings are believed to depict various aspects of the lives and activities of ancient people. The engraved motifs include representations associated with human activities, social practices, and elements of the surrounding environment. From an archaeological perspective, the site is important for understanding the development of indigenous rock art traditions in Mizoram.

Unfortunately, many of the carvings have suffered considerable deterioration due to prolonged exposure to harsh climatic conditions. Natural factors such as heavy rainfall, humidity, temperature variations, weathering, and biological growth have gradually affected the visibility and preservation of the engraved surfaces.
