Chhura Chirawt Lung
Farkawn Village, approximately 80 km from Champhai Town
Chhura Chirawt Lung is an important archaeological and cultural heritage feature located at Farkawn Village in Champhai District, approximately 80 kilometres from Champhai Town. The site is recognised for its unique man-made monolithic structure, which represents a distinctive example of indigenous stone craftsmanship and traditional monument-building practices in the region.
The monument consists of a large, artificially shaped stone pillar resembling a phallus in appearance. The structure is notable for the presence of carefully made punched holes on both sides, which add to its distinctive character and raise questions regarding its original function and symbolic significance.
The origin, date of construction, and identity of the community or individual responsible for erecting Chhura Chirawt Lung are not yet clearly established. Unlike some other megalithic monuments in Mizoram that are associated with known oral traditions or historical figures, the background of this particular monument remains uncertain. At present, investigations into its origin and historical background are ongoing.
